Size Guide

Sizing at a glance
- Jerseys and tees: adult XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL and 3XL. 2XL and 3XL cost $3 more. Long sleeve costs $6 more than short sleeve where both are offered.
- Singlets, running shorts and leggings: XS to 2XL.
- Hoodies and the crew sweatshirt: S to 3XL.
- Kids running tee and kids cycling jersey: Youth S, M, L and XL.
- Crew socks: S/M and L/XL. Sport cap, water bottle and tote bag: one size.
- Race fit means sizing down for a closer feel. Club fit means your usual size for a relaxed feel. It is how you size, not a different garment.
- Wrong size? Return it within 60 days with a free return label and order the size you want.
Getting the size right before you roll out to a group ride or line up for a long run Sunday saves you a return and a wait. This guide does not publish garment measurements. Instead it shows you a reliable way to choose: compare with a top or pair of shorts you already own and like, decide how close you want the fit, and then pick from the size range for that product type. If you are still unsure after reading it, email us and we will help you decide.
Start with something you already wear
The most dependable size guide is already in your drawer. Find the top you reach for most often on a ride or a run, the one that feels right at the shoulders, sits where you want it at the waist and does not pull across the back when you reach forward. Check the size printed on its label. That is your starting point.
Questions to ask about your favourite top
- Does it feel close to the body, or is there room to move around inside it? That tells you whether you naturally prefer a race fit or a club fit.
- When you lean forward into a riding position, does the hem stay down at the back, or does it ride up? If it rides up and that bothers you, lean toward the larger of two sizes.
- Are the sleeves where you like them, or would you prefer them a little longer or shorter? Sleeve preference often decides between two neighbouring sizes.
- Do you wear anything underneath it on cooler mornings? If you layer, give yourself the extra room of your usual size or one up.
Turn the answers into a size
If your favourite top is a size M and it feels exactly right, start with M. If you love it but wish it were a little closer, consider S for a race fit feel. If you wish it had more room, consider L for an even more relaxed club fit. Use the same thinking for shorts and leggings: start from the label of the pair you wear most and adjust for how close you want them.
Race fit or club fit: you choose by how you size
You will see two phrases across the store: race fit and club fit. They do not describe two different garments. Every jersey or tee is the same garment whichever phrase you choose. The difference is how you size it.
Race fit
Race fit means sizing down one from your usual size for a closer feel. Many riders like a jersey to sit close on race day or in a fast group, and many runners prefer a closer tee or singlet for a weekly 5K or a fun run. Choose race fit if you like kit that stays close to your body and you do not plan to layer underneath it.
Club fit
Club fit means taking your usual size for a relaxed feel. It suits long club rides, the café stop, an easy long run Sunday and anyone who wants room to move. If you will wear a base layer underneath, or you simply prefer kit that does not feel snug, club fit is the safer choice.
Between M and L?
Picture a runner who sits right between M and L. For a closer race fit feel she picks M. For a relaxed club fit she picks L. Neither is wrong; it comes down to how she likes kit to feel. If you are between sizes and cannot decide, club fit in the larger size is usually the more forgiving choice, because a top that is slightly roomy is still wearable while one that is too close can be hard to enjoy.
Five steps to your size
- Pick the product and note its size range from the table above, so you know which sizes are available before you start comparing.
- Find the top, shorts or leggings you already own and like most, and check the size on the label.
- Decide on race fit or club fit. Size down one for a closer feel, keep your usual size for a relaxed feel.
- Think about layering and the season. If you will wear something underneath, stay with your usual size or go one up.
- Read your choice again on the product page, including sleeve length and any personalisation, before you add it to your cart.
If you are buying for someone else and cannot check their wardrobe, choose club fit in the size they usually buy, or pick one of the one-size items such as the cap, bottle or tote.

Notes for each part of your kit
Cycling jerseys
Choose your jersey size with your riding position in mind. On the bike you lean forward, so the back of a jersey matters more than it does on a tee. If you want it close for a fast group, go race fit; for long club rides and a relaxed café stop, go club fit. Where a design comes in both short sleeve and long sleeve, the size range is the same, and the long sleeve costs $6 more. Choose sleeve length on the product page before you add the jersey to your cart.
Running tees and long sleeve running tees
Tees follow the same XS to 3XL range as jerseys. For a race or a weekly 5K many runners choose race fit; for easy runs and post-run coffee, club fit. If you are buying a long sleeve tee for cooler mornings and may wear something underneath, take your usual size.
Running singlets
Singlets come in XS to 2XL. Because a singlet has no sleeves, the fit across the shoulders and the length are what you notice. Compare with a singlet or vest you already wear, and size the same way you would for a tee.
Running shorts and printed leggings
Shorts and leggings come in XS to 2XL. Start from the size label of the pair you wear most. Race fit and club fit apply here too: size down for a closer feel, keep your usual size for a relaxed one. If you are between sizes on leggings, think about how you like them at the waist and choose the one that would feel comfortable for a whole long run.
Hoodies and warm-ups
The pullover hoodie, the Cafe Stop Zip Hoodie and the crew sweatshirt come in S to 3XL. These are for before the start and after the finish, worn over other kit, so most people take their usual size or one up for room to layer. There is no race fit reason to size down on a warm-up.
Crew socks
Socks come in two bands, S/M and L/XL. Choose by the shoe size you usually buy: the smaller band for smaller feet, the larger band for larger feet. If you are right on the line and not sure, email us before you order and tell us your usual shoe size; we will help you choose.
Cap, bottle and tote
The sport cap, the Kit Crest Printed Water Bottle and the tote bag are one size, so there is nothing to choose. They make easy gifts when you do not know someone’s size.
Youth sizes for young riders and runners
The kids running tee and kids cycling jersey come in Youth S, M, L and XL. These are separate youth sizes, not small adult sizes. Compare with a top the child already wears and likes, using the youth size on its label as your guide.
Children grow quickly, so for a youth top most parents choose club fit and often go one size up if the child is between sizes, so the kit lasts a full season of fun runs and family rides. If you are ordering adult and youth versions of the same design for a family run, size each person separately; the youth range and adult range are chosen independently.
Sizing personalised items
The five products in the Custom Name & Crest collection use the same size ranges as their plain versions. Choose the size first, then fill in the personalisation fields: name on back of up to 14 characters printed in capitals, a number from 0 to 99, optional crest initials of up to 3 letters, and a lettering colour.
Check the size as carefully as the spelling
We print exactly what you type and send no proof or mockup before production. Treat the size the same way you treat the name: read it twice. If you notice within 24 hours of ordering that you chose the wrong size, email us and we will change it. After that the item is in production, and the route is a return once it arrives. The cancel or change an order page has the steps.
Ordering matching names for a group
When friends order the Custom Group Ride Cycling Jersey for a charity ride, each rider should choose their own size rather than one person guessing for everyone. Placing separate orders lets each person pick race fit or club fit for themselves and handle their own return if needed.
If the size is not right when it arrives
It happens. You have 60 days to return any item, personalised items included, and we pay the return postage with a free return label. There is no restocking fee. To swap sizes, return the item that does not fit and place a new order for the size you want; that way the new size is already being prepared while your return travels back to us. We refund the returned item within 7 days of receiving it, to your original payment method.
The full process is on the returns and exchanges page, and the money side is on the refund policy page. Many sizing questions are also answered in our FAQs.
Why we do not show a measurement chart
We prefer to give you no numbers rather than numbers we cannot stand behind. A chart of garment measurements is only useful if every figure is exact for the item you receive. Until we can publish figures that meet that bar, comparing with a top you already own is the more reliable method, and it is the one most riders and runners use anyway. Fabric and care details are on each product page; if the detail you need is not there, ask us.
Ask us before you order
Not sure between two sizes, or ordering a gift for someone whose size you do not know? Email support@kitandcrest.shop and tell us which product you are looking at, the size label of a top or pair of shorts you already wear, and whether you prefer a closer or more relaxed feel. We reply within 24 hours on business days. You can also submit a ticket or browse the help center.
